FORTRUST is installing two 2.4MW Diesel Rotary UPS (DRUPS) modules from E1 DYNAMICS (EURO-DIESEL) at their Denver, CO data center. The innovative technology supports the company’s 2017 Denver colo data center expansion. For this build-out phase, FORTRUST has adopted prefab modular units from two leading manufacturers of modular data centers. The FORTRUST facility is a Tier III Gold certified data center from Uptime Institute. The DRUPS modules employ a “kinetic energy accumulator” integrated with a diesel engine and alternator to support the data center load. The innovation results in greater efficiency, longer life-cycle, and in less floor space than static UPS and batteries, providing more capacity within the data center. This session discusses the decision-making, planning, and design process that led to this proven innovative technology for their mission-critical power supply in the data center.
