Grant manages Goldman Sachs’ Technology Global Data Center Engineering, Operations and Provisioning and the Cross Platform Linux, Windows and Server Hardware Engineering teams.  In this tenure, he’s participated in a broad range of technology infrastructure engineering, implementations and management initiatives. Previously, he managed Server Engineering and was a member of the Dynamic Compute team for two years. Prior to that, Grant helped create and then managed the Compute Farm, the firm’s risk and pricing infrastructure. He joined Goldman Sachs in 1998 as a manager for Windows Engineering. Grant was named technology fellow in 2010 and managing director in 2012.  Prior to joining the firm, Grant worked at Alliance Capital, where he managed desktop and server engineering, email and intranet infrastructure, and at Travelers Insurance, managing Windows and Unix Engineering and acquisition integration. He began his technology career developing multiuser software for financial and publishing firms.  Grant taught programming languages and software development for Columbia University’s professional degree program from 1988 to 1994. Grant was actively involved with the Open Compute Project, serving from 2011 until January 2014 as co-chair of the Machine Management Track and as a member of the Incubation Committee.  Grant earned a BA from Cleveland State University, a Certificate in Financial Markets from New York University and an MA from Columbia University.
