Ismail Awab


Ismail Awab graduated in B.Sc.Architecture from Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-ARC), Santa Monica, California, U.S.A. Graduated in 1991 and started working in one of the local Architecture Firm, Ray E. Brown Architect in Lawndale, California. Due to the economic recession, and the riot in Los Angeles in 1992, he decided to move back to Malaysia, his home country.


He then landed an Architectural position in TR Hamzah & Yeang Associates, a prominent Architectural Firm in Kuala Lumpur as the 3D Designer. He was responsible to develop 3D Architectural Modelling for several of their highrise proposals. The 3D Models were used for space, light and wind studies. Understanding that he need to explore and expose himself to more knowledge and experiences, he decided to move to several other companies, all of which based in CADD, Modelling, Animation and ICT. Within the next 4 years,he has build up strong acumen in Project Management, IT (Construction Related), and Corporate Management, to the point that he became the reference for IT implementation in Construction Industry.


In 1997, he was offered to lead a newly set-up Project Management company, KPRJ Akirancang, to handle mega projects for the State of Johor. He was appointed as the COO, and managing three Technical Division, which are Architectural, QS and Planning. The company’s project portfolio was approximately USD3B in development value spanning all across the State of Johor.


In 2001, he was offered to move up to a Federal level company, which is Perundingan Industri Malaysia (PRIMA), a subsidiary of Malaysian Industry, Government Group of High Technology (MIGHT), a body under the Science Advisor to the Prime Minister of Malaysia. He was handling two national level projects, PC LAB Projects for schools across Malaysia, and Science & Mathematics in English Projects, both were under the Ministry of Education. Apart from these two mega projects, he was also instrumental in developing several Technology Mappings for the Government of Malaysia – Timber Technology, Food Technology. Biotech and Robotics.


His knowledge and experiences has taken him to several countries as Consultant and Expert Professional. During his tenure in TM International (Axiata), he was instrumental in the Merger & Acquisition of several CELCO - Idea Cellular in India and Excelcomindo in Indonesia. He was also stationed in RIyadh for one year as Management Consultant for Westminster Consulting LLP, UK.


His experiences in all of his work places were put to good use when he decided to move out of Malaysia into Indonesia. Here, he is advising corporations, government agencies and local governments in matters that benefit them.
