Jason Shepard specializes in advising/consulting end-users in multi-market evaluation, site selection and acquisition of mission critical facilities (e.g. data centers, colocation capacity, etc.) and/or real property for conversion to mission critical facility uses across North America.
Prior to beginning a career in industrial real estate in 1995, Jason’s background and training was in legal research. Following the 1996 Telecommunications Act, there was significant demand by telecom providers for expansion across the United States. Jason’s unique combination of research, industrial properties, understanding of trends in the power/telecom/technology sectors and commitment to researching the right answers provided him an opportunity to help pioneer best practices in site selection for mission critical facilities.
While many in the industry have recently jumped into the hot sector of data centers, Jason has spent 20 years building his unique practice and set of proprietary tools. Since 2005 alone, Jason has been the lead consultant on data center site selection projects for ~20% of the Fortune 150.
