Snr. Director, Data Center Operations
As Director of Data Center Operations, Joe Olgiati currently leads an organization of over 160 engineering and property management professionals, stewarding a leading global financial institution’s core data center portfolio of 3 million square feet and (10) locations. Joe’s current responsibilities encompass critical engineering and facilities management. For over 20 years Joe has been accustomed to the rigors of maintaining 100% uptime, with a particular focus upon serving the financial industry. Select past roles and assignments include:
- New York Mercantile Exchange, Director of Engineering: Joe oversaw commissioning, and subsequently, critical operations, of the NYMEX headquarters at the World Financial Center.
- Wachovia Bank account (Cushman & Wakefield), Critical Environment Director: Northeast critical engineering over a 3.2 MSF portfolio
- Merrill Lynch account, Critical Operations Director: core Northeast data centers
Joe’s duties and experience are wide-ranging, as is typical in serving the enterprise financial industry. In addition to hawkishly managing risk, he has led numerous cost and energy savings initiatives (including the first LEED-EB certification in NYC), maintained agility in the face of regulation, and met challenges such as merging consolidated enterprises and bridging legacy facility retirements and load migrations. Further, his duties encompassed emergency preparation and response, including management through and recovery from such disasters as the September 11, 2001 attacks and Superstorm Sandy. His portfolios have had strong records of operational rigor and discipline, and includes the site with the highest operational risk assessment score assessed by CBRE.
