All-Conference Plenary Keynote: Toward the Software-Defined, Data-Driven Data Center

Cole Crawford, Chair, StackingIT George Rockett, CEO & Co-Founder, DatacenterDynamics

The data center has often been regarded as a bastion for consistency, reliability and stability but the introduction of software-defined has entirely transformed the way how networks in DCs function, with virtualization now a key foundation to cloud computing, servers and infrastructure. Is moving towards a software-defined driven DC anytime in the near future in Southeast Asia and how can operators ensure that all of the different components of a DC are working together as one big family in a trouble-free environment?

Panel: How is South East Asia coping with explosive demand for data center services?

Adi Kusma , President Director, Biznet Asher Ling, Chief Operating Officer, Kingsland Development Bas Winkel, Managing Director, LeaseWeb Asia Pacific Billy Lee Kok Chi, Chairman, Malaysian Data Centre Alliance, CEO, Hitachi Sunway Data Center Services

Today's cloud and tomorrow's IoT are driving explosive demand for data center services, which in turn require new data center stock to be made available, and building new facilities is not as simple as flicking a switch as the public might sometimes be led to believe; bricks and mortar require time, planning and money. We ask our panel of experts, each involved in this complex business, how they are coping. Where in SE Asia is the next data center investment hot spot and why? What are the main regional challenges today in digital real estate development? Is there adequate financing available for these types of projects?

Panel: How is the role of the CIO changing?

Gautam Bardoloi, Head of IT Strategy and Governance, Hong Kong Jockey Club Suk-wah Kwok, Regional Chief Information Officer, Asia Pacific, Lockton Companies Inc

In some companies the CIO role includes head of business transformation, head of business process change or management, head of service delivery and even head of supply chain. In others they are being called chief technology officers (CTOs), and in some cases the role of CIO is divided between two or more people. How has your role changed? We ask CIOs from the region.

All-Conference Plenary Panel: How do we redefine uptime and availability in an application centric world?

Ed Ansett, Managing Partner, i3 Solutions Group Giles Proctor, VP, Data Centre Services , Pacnet at Telstra Mock Pak Lum , CTO, Starhub Wong Ka Vin, Managing Director, 1-Net Singapore Pte Ltd Zahl Limbuwala, CEO/Co-Founder, Romonet

Our panel of experts explore the challenge of what availability means to data center end-users and operators in today's rapidly changing environments. Does a software-defined world no longer need highly engineered environments? Is the Tier Classification system still relevant? Is software eating the world and dispensing with need for costly redundant systems?

End-user Panel: Using cloud services to scale my business - what works?

Abhishek Parolkar, Head of Technology, PropertyGuru Jerzy Szlosarek, Chief Operating Officer, Epsilon Joanito Iwan Tamsil, IS&T; Director, PT. Emporium Indonesia Roger Strukhoff, Principal, Tau Institute

We ask our panel of technology end-users how they are navigating the increasingly fragmented world of cloud platforms. What has been your experience of public cloud? What's more important, interoperability or security? How have you managed to scale your business through technology effectively?

Smithing, Director - Green Building Advisory, Colliers International Prof. Ian Bitterlin, Independent Consultant, _

Our international panel of experts debates whether there are still more energy savings to squeeze out of the facility. As we move towards the silicon horizon is there any more innovation left for data center design or is it all in the code?
